Poejo is a Los Angeles-based small batch Portuguese egg custard tarts created by Diogo Veladas.
Inspired by his love for the traditional Portuguese pastry, Poejo is a reflection of Diogo’s upbringing and culinary experience.
After living in Los Angeles for a few months, Diogo realized that, although a melting pot, Los Angeles is missing authentic Portuguese cuisine. Fueled by homesickness, Diogo went on to craft his version of the perfect tart which included a lot more flavor by using the highest quality ingredients sourced from local farmers, supporting small businesses and applying the perfect technique.
What started off as a hobby and a way to make ends meet, Poejo has built a cult following amongst friends and family with each person rationing their supply as they wait for the next batch.
